Jabee Tower, Dübendorf

These questions form the point of departure for MAYO’s work. He is fascinated by the interpenetration of artistic intervention and architectural structure — those moments in which art does not merely respond to architecture, but sets it in motion. His focus lies less on an overt “architectural–artistic” authorship than on a comprehensive perspective on space and perception.

For the materialisation and art concept of the Jabee Tower, the artist defined the façade using aluminium, concrete, and glass. Across all 30 storeys, the high-rise is further structured by vertical “glass blades made of laminated safety glass with an interference colour effect; each pair of these elements marks the width of an apartment. The interference glass produces a rare, almost immaterial effect: like a subtle rainbow, it shimmers in changing colours depending on light, weather, and viewing angle. In this way, the façade allows the tower to continuously shift and transform in a quiet, understated manner.
